Your location. Your rules.
We built Vamio for drivers, not data brokers. Here's how we keep it that way.
When the drive ends, tracking ends.
Vamio only accesses your location during active drives. While a drive is active, background location keeps your position updated even when the app is minimized — so your crew always knows where you are. The moment you end the drive, all location access stops. No passive collection. No "always-on" tracking when you're not driving with Vamio.
Encrypted. Always.
All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit using TLS. Data stored on our servers is encrypted at rest. Your location coordinates, messages, and account information are protected by the same enterprise-grade infrastructure used by millions of apps worldwide (Firebase/Google Cloud).
You decide who sees you.
Location sharing in Vamio is always:
- ✓ Opt-in: You choose to join a drive. Nobody can track you without your active participation.
- ✓ Scoped: Only participants in your current drive can see your position.
- ✓ Temporary: Sharing automatically stops when the drive ends.
- ✓ Transparent: You can see exactly who's in your drive at all times.
No friends lists stalking your location 24/7. No "check-ins." No ambient tracking. Just drive-scoped, participant-scoped visibility.
One button between you and help.
The SOS feature sends an instant alert to every participant in your active drive. It includes:
- Your exact GPS coordinates
- Your name and vehicle info (if added)
- A notification that can't be missed
SOS is not a replacement for emergency services. Always call 911 (or your local equivalent) in a life-threatening emergency. But when your crew needs to find you fast — a flat tire on a dark road, a breakdown in an unfamiliar area — SOS closes the gap between "something happened" and "help is here."
Things we'll never do.
- ✕
Sell your data. Not to advertisers. Not to data brokers. Not to anyone.
- ✕
Track you outside drives. Your location is yours when you're not driving with Vamio.
- ✕
Share with third parties. Your drive data stays between you and your group.
- ✕
Show ads. No ad networks means no ad tracking.
- ✕
Make it hard to leave. Delete your account anytime. Your data goes with it.
Be smart out there.
- Mount your phone securely. Never hold it while driving.
- Use quick-tap messages instead of typing.
- Pull over if you need to interact with the app beyond a glance.
- Designate a passenger as the navigator when possible.
- SOS is for real situations. Your group trusts it — don't misuse it.
